The Best City Awards 2026 Ceremony took place yesterday, Wednesday 11 February 2026, at the Serafio of the City of Athens, where the Visit-Thassos.com Digital Local Tourist Guide and Mobile Applications, a project of the Municipality of Thassos in collaboration with Lioncode (Your IT People), received an award in the category “Digital Local Tourist Guide & Mobile Applications”.
The award was received by Mr Anastasios Bilias, President of the Tourism Section of the Kavala Chamber and member of the Thassos Tourism Organisation, and Mr Christos Papadakis, owner of Lioncode.
Visit-Thassos.com is a comprehensive digital platform that brings together the accommodation, activities, events and points of interest of Thassos, offering visitors a modern and user-friendly experience. It is the first digital local tourist guide to use artificial intelligence to create personalised visit itineraries based on the user's preferences, available time and location, providing ready-made suggested routes with timings, opening hours and booking options.
At the same time, local businesses can easily manage their profiles and reach the right audience, while the Municipality of Thassos and the Tourism Organisation gain a unified overview and better coordination of tourism activities.
This award confirms the momentum of Thassos as a destination that invests in innovation, digital upgrading and sustainable tourism development, substantially improving the visitor experience and strengthening the island's international outreach.
The Best City Awards, now held for the 8th consecutive year, showcase and reward innovative projects that contribute to the creation of smart, sustainable and economically viable cities, with a focus on quality of life and social cohesion.
