QR Code sign for the website of the Thassos Tourism Organisation
Today, Monday 14 July 2025, in the office of the Mayor of Thassos, Mr Eleftherios Kyriakidis, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr Ioannis Markianos, and the Vice-President of the Tourism Organisation, Ms Lamprini Foka, presented to the Mayor of Thassos the tabletop sign bearing the QR Code of the official website of the Tourism Organisation of the Municipality of Thassos. The Tourism Organisation has procured the first 1,000 units, which will be distributed to tourism businesses on the island.
The Mayor of Thassos, Mr Eleftherios Kyriakidis, stated:
“The Deputy Mayor's Office for Tourism and the Thassos Tourism Organisation are the ultimate example of cooperation and synergy between the public and private sectors.
In recent years, through the substantial funding of the Organisation by the Municipality of Thassos, things have changed. The Municipality, organisations and tourism businesses are joining forces to meet the challenges of the times.
Organisations and professionals are not struggling on their own, and the Municipality is pursuing a tourism policy that is sound and to the benefit of all, with the help of those who have the experience and the knowledge.
The inaction and lack of funding of previous years created the need for faster decisions and actions within a fully international competitive environment.
I am pleased that within just a few years, 2020 to 2025, the foundations have been laid for a meaningful and effective tourism policy. Much has been achieved, and I am certain that even more will be achieved.
Today's presentation of this initiative confirms our view that cooperation, combined with the parallel funding of the Tourism Organisation by the Municipality as well as by other organisations and businesses, is now delivering tangible results.
We are all continuing together with the same willingness to contribute.”
